Jacqueline Fernandez, a Sri Lankan actor hailing from Bahrain's Manama was brought up in a multicultural family. Her father Elroy Fernandez comes of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Her brothers are younger as well as an older sister. It was because of the civil war in Lanka that her parents decided to move to Bahrain. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. With a love of cultures and languages she also was a part of the Berlitz school of languages, in which she was able to learn Spanish as well as improve her French and Arabic. In 2006, she won the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006 and also competed at Miss Universe 2006. She entered television after winning her the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her program, Lanka Business Report, is about Sri Lankan business. Padukone (the mother of the badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. When she was in her teens she competed in badminton championships at national and international levels. She later quit the sport in order to make a profession as fashion designer. Padukone was born in Mangalore in India. Her native language Konkani is where she comes from. Her family ancestors are from the village Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state, which is located in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a retired badminton player of international repute, and her mother works as a travel agent.
